It Sucks…. A Little!!

Ok, it is early in the 2010 New Year but there are already a few things that are beginning in bug me! The first thing is all of the new people in the gym. At first I was glad to see the increase in traffic at the gym, because this means that as usual many of us have decided that this would be the year that we would achieve our fitness goals. Now the thing that bothers me is that many of these new people are hogging the equipment.

Now I don’t mind waiting in line but the thing that gets me is when these people just lounge on the free-weight benches or on the nautilus machines doing nothing and I mean nothing! I watched one guy sit on the leg press for 20 mins periodically doing repetitions of 10 with 10 pounds of weight and the rest of the time he was dancing to his iPod.

I normally wouldn’t care if someone was using the machine and I had to wait, but I got a little upset because there are only two leg press machines and heck I was working legs that day. He noticed me giving him the evil eye and got out of dodge when I started hovering around him.

I also do not like the cold weather, I repeat I DO NOT LIKE THE COLD WEATHER! It has been rather cold here in Atlanta, in fact we are forecast for snow this coming Thursday. Can you believe it SNOW! I’m originally from Miami and cold for me is a brisk 70 degrees give or take.

The last time I checked it had dropped to 18 degrees, that’s too cold for these south beach bones. I have to make sure I stay covered up when I leave the gym because if I don’t I might end up walking around here with a case of phenomena, don’t want that so I’m sure to keep this big ole head tightly coved up. I never leave the gym in wet clothes either, that’s a recipe for walking phenomena.

Well other then the cold and the people who won’t share the machines, 2010 has been great so far I’m at 197 right now, weight wise. I’ll be getting my body fat percentage checked this coming week but my diet is Awesome right now. I’m getting in plenty of whole foods and protein in my diet and I feel lean.

I’ll let you guys and gals know how the progress comes in the coming weeks. Seek ya and let me know if there is something you don’t like about 2010.

  1. Hey Big Guy,

    I hear you about the gym crowds but I’ve found that the new members just need to be taught gym etiquette, like letting others use the machines in between your sets.

    Luckily a new Snap fitness opened closer to my house just before Christmas so I’ve switched to them and so far so good. Plus it’s open 24/7 so I can go during off hours to avoid the crowds.

    As for the Cold..I’m Canadian we bath in snow:) but I hate it as well. I don’t think I’ll ever get used to it.

    The crowds have made me change up the times I go a little. Also starting to do more bodyweight exercises at home. We can still get it in:-)

    I’ve been going to the gym less myself to avoid the crowds! It will pass.

    I feel for you with the cold!! Even in northern Florida it’s been freezing!! Springs just around the corner, no :-)
